Family History Of Hyperlipidemia. Now Taking "garcinia Cambogia" To Eliminate Visceral Fat. Will HCA Interact With Crestor?

I am thinking about taking the supplement "garcinia cambogia" to aid in the elimination of visceral fat. I am an otherwise healthy 40 year old but do take synthroid for hypothyroidism (100 mg/day) and have a family history of hyperlipidemia although no CAD that I know of but am taking 10 mg of Crestor 1x day. There is some info on the web about HCA and that it might interact with statins like Crestor. Any info/adice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
Although you have not mentioned your reports of lipid profile,I presume your cholesterol levels to be high since you have been prescribed CRESTOR.
You are correct that there might be some interaction of taking HCA with CRESTOR.
Statins are known to cause myalgias, myopathy and very rarely rhabdomylosis and concomitant use of HCA can increase the chances of these side effects.
However,it doesn't mean that everybody taking CRESTOR and HCA would have these side effects. It simply means that chances of side effects are increased and not that they are going to happen.
Along with these medications, you should take full precaution regarding your calorie intake and due importance has to be given to regular aerobic exercises for at least 45 minutes a day.
Thanks
