Fall On The Arm, Severe Pain, Difficulty In Extending Or Bending, Slight Swelling. What Should Be Done?

I was skating and fell on my arm with it outstretched. I heard something pop and had excruciating pain all through the front of my arm. It s been 2 days now and it doesn t seem to be broken since I can move it, but it still hurts very very badly and I can t fully extend it or bend it entirely. It hurts the most if it s twisted at all. Last night I accidentally twisted it and heard it pop again. It s slightly swollen but isn t tender to the touch. I m not sure what happened or what to do.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for posting your query.

From description it seems to be soft tissue injury .

You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.

I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.

Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid lifting and rest well.

Regards.
