Hi
Eye donation is indeed a noble cause and it surely can help treat corneally blind throughout the world.
You have to fill in the form and can deposit in nearby eye bank. You can get list of eye banks probably from eye bank association of India and many of your question will be answered there.Look at wwwebai.org

Hello,
Eye donation is one of the noble act which will help two corneal blind people to see, thereby gives vision to two blind people.
Eye donation is done only after death.
Prior registration that you are willing to donate the eyes after death at near by eye bank, but is not mandatory as consent from the near and dear ones of the deseased person is mandatory for eye collection.
After registration eye bank will issue a identity card which has to be carried always as this will help in knowing about the decision taken by a person in case of his or her death.
The near by eye bank as to be called within 6 hours of death of the person, team consisting of ophthalmologist will come to the place of death and collect eye ball. This is absolutely done at free of cost.
The collected eye ball is analyzed and investigated to rule out contrindications for eye transplantation and used for keratoplasty, a surgery involving the transplantation of cornea to the corneal blind person.
Thank you

welcome to healthcaremagic portal
eye donation is possible within 4-6 hrs. in summers and 8-10 hrs in winters in india as delay in donating the eye leads to spoiling of the donar tissue. Now we insist upon the next to kin to be aware of the steps to be taken at the time of grief in the family. There is a all india toll free no.1919 which when contacted will connect you to the local eye bank and the team from eye bank will visit and get the eye donation done.In the meanwhile the attendants are supposed to put a wet cotton on the eye and switch off the fan

keratoconus?? My daughter is 2 years and 8 months and she kept looking occassionally out of the corner of her eye but over the past 3 months she now constantly looks out of the corner of her eye. She can move her eye in all directions as normal but she will look head on for 5 mins maximum and after that she will always look from the corner. The only time she looks head on is when watching tv and she is right up close to it. My gp has said this may be keratoconus but there is no bulging. She has been refferred to the eye hospital but i am awaiting an appointment. Do you think this is as my gp said or possibly something else? If so what can i do in the mean time??

hi, i am 22 years old my height is 175 cm and weight 60 kgs. I am having jaundice due to acute hepatitis-A and it also caused hemolytic aneamia. My haemoglobin went down to 7.3 but now it has improved to 13.1. So, the anaemia is also improving. My billirubin value went upto 58.1, that was quite high actually, but now the billirubin count has decreased to 13.1. I was put on wysolone steriods with a starting dose of 100mg and now the dose is reduced gradually by 70 mg, 60 mg, 50 mg,40 mg,20 mg , 10 mg and 5 mg. I am feeling blurness in my eyesight, siince i was having keratoconus, which is a corneal defect in eye. Can you please suggest if this blurness is due to jaundice or due to the use of steroids. i was on steroids for 28 days and pls suggest if it will improve after my jaundice is gone or the steroids are stopped. Please help as i am really worried about my eyesight.
