Extremely thin child, has good appetite, improper bowel frequency, no improvement with change in diet. Chances of celiac disease?

my daughter is 14 years old and she is very thin. She can eats alot when she is hungry. But she has infrequent bowel movement , sometimes like 2 to 3 days. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

That is possible, especially if she has abdominal pain when eating wheat. I suggest you schedule for a gastroscopy with biopsy and blood tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon

hello doctor, I am married and had a baby girl, she is now about 7 and half month old, I breastfeed here exclusively for five and half month and then I started feeding her rice beside my milk. My husband is a Celiac disease patient, he was diagnosed with this disorder about 2 years ago, and he is in a gluten free diet since then. Until now i did not feed her gluten products, is there is any way to avoid her from developing this disorder. Thank you very much in advance. Rana Elias

we have a 6 year old daughter that has had diarrhea for 8-10 days, black, foul, low fever 101. Went to the pediatrician today, suspect possible parasite, sent home with instruction for fecal sample and of course lots of hydration. My research doesn t bear that out. Ulcer or gastroenteritis seems a little better match. Possible celiac disease as a cause?

I recently had a colonoscopy and a endoscopy done, the colon is fine, but the dr found that in my biospy of my stomach red patches through out my stomach. He says that he hasnt seen this very often and doesnt know what it is or what its caused from. Now I have to go through small bowel capsule endoscopy to see if its threw out my small intestine . I have celiac sprue also for 8 years now and have lost alot of weight recently and also have diahreaa every day. I also have craping in pain in the middle of my belly along with bloating and nausea. Im worried that he does not know what this is, and have not been able to find anything on the internet about red patches. I seen the pictures and they are not ulcers, they are not bleeding the are really small and there is alot of them. any Idea of what this could be/

Hi, I have coeliac disease and have been adhering to a gluten free diet for about a year now since I was diagnosed. I ve always had a problem with fatigue and had attributed it to the coeliac disease; however, now that I m on a gluten free diet I had thought that might alleviate it - it hasn t. I can sleep anywhere from 5 to 15 hours a night and always have the same lethargy, despite trying different sleeping patterns, drowning myself in coffee, having B12 injections , and doing awake things like getting out and about. Is there anything you could recommend to make me less sleepy all the time?

I have Epilepsy and Celiac Disease and it is very difficult to find gluten-free drugs that are generic (because of my co-pay/generic) that don t have gluten in them and when I do some places say that their distributing warehouse says it is N/A. What should I do, I have been calling around to pharmacies and finding out where they get certain drugs for my Epilepsy within a 30 to 40 mile around with not to good a results. What should I do ? I have tried YYYY@YYYY to them to get a certain drug in but yet no results.
