Extreme Shortness Of Breath, Pain In Chest, Burning Senastion In Abdomen, Gassy. Have COPD. Could This Be Reflux Or Gluten Sensitivity?

Hi, I have serious COPD (FEV1 = 23%) and have had symptoms over the years that I assumed were caused by my breathing problems. I just learned to "live" with them. Now, however, I'm suspecting reflux or heartburn or even gluten sensitivity. What would be my first step in an elimination plan: carbohydrates or gluten?
The symptoms include a feeling that I'm getting a huge unwanted hug around my mid-section which leads to extreme shortness of breath. Also some chest pain just below my collar bone. Added to this some recent burning sensation in my abdomen, along with gas.

Pulmonologist Dr. Gyanshankar Mishra's  Response
Hi,
You are suffering from very severe COPD. Your symptoms are suggestive of associated GERD (reflux) which needs to be treated with oral antacid medications. Long term oxygen therapy will definitely help you and so will flu and pneumococcal vaccination. Inhalers are the mainstay of treatment. You need to be under regular follow up with a Pulmonologist.
For abdominal symptoms, a Gastroenterologist opinion may be sought after clinical examination.
Regards
Dr. Mishra
