Exposure Of Dettol On Eyes. Recommended Eye Drops. Serious?
Hello Doctor . I just drop accidentally a botle with Dettol and splash some into my eye. I rince it with water and my husband rush to the local doctor and he give him a eye drops wich need to be keep in the fridge and use it every hour. I would like to find out from you will this will damidge my eye and what i should more do to prevent it ?

Hi,
Dettol is only an antiseptic solution, the main ingredient is chloroxylenol , along with isopropanol, castor oil soap, caramel . So undiluted liquid produces eye irritation, some time severe.
but washing eyes immediately after application signficantly reduces the adverse effect.
Doctor might have given the combination antibiotic and anti irritant or anti inflammatory.
Both of you continue the medication. Avoiding sun light, computer, heat will make you alright Anyhow nothing to worry.
