hi! i'm 29 years old and getting married next year. i went to an ob-gyn for my first check up to see if my menstrual cramps is normal, i had a papsmear and ultrasound. then my ob-gyn said that everthing is normal except that i had "diffuse posterior wall adenomyosis secretory phase endometrium" (posterior wall 2.2cm & anterior wall 0.8cm). she explained this to me and even showed me some pictures, but i was stucked with the thought that it's hard for me to have a baby due to the thickness of my posterior wall, and this also caused my excessive menstrual bleeding and cramps. can you help me interpret my condition? and can a contraseptive pill help me? i'm hoping for your response. thanks and God bless.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Cramping during menstrual cycles is called dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea is present in majority of healthy menstruating females. Anti-spasmodics can be taken to control the pain caused by dysmenorrhea. Adenomyosis is a non-neoplastic finding in uteruses of many healthy females. Adenomyosis does not interfere with conception or pregnancy.
There is nothing to worry. You can take anti-spasmodic for dysmenorrhea. Mefenamic acid is a common preparation used for this purpose.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
