Respected Sir, I have been experiencing severe chest congestion this winter.Initially it was with wet cough and i was given antibiotics. After initial relief,i again felt chest congestion, breathlessness, mild fever with weakness , discomfort while exhaling air,and dry cough with some skin rashes on right hand .I was prescribed deriphyllin, montus and fexofen with ascoril syrup but it did not help much.I took a second opinion and I have been prescribed Montek LC, Azithromycin tablets-250mg ,doxotrid BD abd grilinctus syrup.I need your kind opinion as the problem is recurring.

Hi and thanks for query,
The chest pain in your case could either be due to an infection, a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease like asthma or rarely, a cardiac problem. a family history of asthma or allergic rhinitis is important to be known.
A simple chest X ray could be important in the evaluation of your symptoms. association of symptoms with rashes could indicate an allergic or viral origin. A complete blood count could be important in distinguishing these two based in their lymphocyte and erythrocyte levels.
A good physical examination in search of respiratory wheezes or crackles is important in making a difference between asthma and a bacterial infection. An evaluation by your internist/.pneumologist could be of great help in ascertaining the actual cause of your symptoms. I suggest you gte an appointment with one of them.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
