Experiencing Excruciating Pain While Passing Urine , What Are The Possible Treatments ?

25 weeks pregnant- Have UTI; have been on Bactrim DS since Friday; Sunday was changed to Macrobid. No relief, however, urine cultures today showed improvement from yesterday, so after giving me 1L NSS and a dose of stadol, I was sent home w/ prescription for terconazole cream (Cultures today also showed some yeast- tried monistat Friday night and it made burning/itching worse), which burned horribly upon application, so I was told to not use it. I am still in excrutiating pain when I urinate and am so frustrated. I was told to call again first thing in the AM if not better (I called Fri night- start monistat; called Sat night- rx for pyridium called in, no relief, told to stop monistat; went to ER sunday AM- did urine cultures and changed antibiotic to macrobid; spent all day in hospital today in labor and delivery). Something doesn't seem right, I am not one to overreact and I usually handle pain pretty well. I don't know what to do, but I haven't slept in 3 nights, and the discomfort is driving me crazy. Any advice welcome. Reminder- I am pregnant.

Hi,
Thanks for contacting healthcaremagic. Some times severe UTI can lead to preterm pains. What is already been done is absolutely right. You need to continue the antibiotics. If there is uterine contractions you might need TOCOLYSIS for pain relief. Also get a SURGICAL OPINION to rule out other causes of pain.
If you have any follow up questions, kindly direct at : http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-arif-n-khan/65133.
