Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a hard time going to the bathroom for bowel movements. my body screams loudly and constantly from the foods I it. I have to take stool softeners or laxatives just to stop the constant noise. I wake up everymorning with gas and I have to leave the bed so the noise doesn t wake the next person. im not passing gas or anything of that nature. what is the problem with my insides. I cant attend quiet functions because of this.
Noted the history of noisy abdomen due to gas, particularly on waking up and still do not pass gas, there is a difficulty in passing stool, hence take stool softeners or laxatives. As per the history you have provided, this looks to be intestinal obstruction as the passage of the gases frequently would have proved to be other causes like aerophagia, stress and/or anxiety.Get the following done asap:
- X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. - Ultrasound to be followed by a CT scan if there are any positive findings. - Tests of blood, urine and stool.
If there is a positive finding, will go by that. If intestinal obstruction, a therapeutic trial of conservative management and surgery if the medical management fails.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
