Experiencing An Abnormal Swing With High And Low BP, Fast Pulse. Suggestions ?

I have been experiencing an abnormal swing with high and low blood pressure and a very fast pulse.
With in the last two weeks the high has been 167/112 with a pulse of 98 and a low of 77/61 with a pulse of 144 and irregular heart beat. I have called my doctor with concern four times within the last two week with no response.
When is it time to go to the hospital? How high or low should I let my blood pressure go before seeking medical assistants? Evidently, my doctor isn't too concerned!

Thank you

Dear patient,

The most common cause of intermittent irregular pulse is paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, which by itself is not a life threatening arrhythmia but has important treatment considerations since it can increase the risk of stroke. If your blood pressure goes as low as you mentioned (less than 90) or your heart rate more than 130 sustained, it is time to visit the Emergency Department for further evaluation. Otherwise, you should get a prompt outpatient appointment for evaluation.

Yours truly,
