Suggest Treatment For Throat Irritation, Slight Cough With Mucus And Wheezing

Every time I exercise, I will start having to clear my throat, start coughing, and cough up some mucus and be able to get through the rest of my workout. I will sometimes have some wheezing but not always but it seems I will start coughing and have to repeatedly clear my throat until I have to cough so hard to get up some mucus and then I am okay and can continue working out. Very strange.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your situation could be related to gastro-esophageal reflux or a lung disorder. For this reason, I recommend performing pulmonary function tests and a lung X-ray study. If these tests result normal, a fibro-gastroscopy may be needed. You should discuss with your doctor on these tests.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
