Episodes Of Severe Headaches, Scalp Hurts Continually, Vision Loss, Leg Spasms. Medical Cure ?

I am a 58 years old female who has been having episodes of severe headache for over a year. The pain began as acute, slicing pain from the back of my head, behind my right ear upwards to the center part line of my hair. It was debilitating, but only lasted for perhaps 10 seconds. There was originally no residual headache. Now the slicing pain is still there - perhaps four or five times a day - but there is a continual pain from just below the right ear upwards. And my scalp hurts continually. I've noticed some vision loss, but nothing that can't be allocated to age and over use. I'm a writer so I spend a lot of time in front of the computer. As well, I've had two instances of lost time. Friends have attributed them to simply being absent minded, but at 58, I know the difference. Over the last year I've also had two or three episodes of bi-lateral spasm of my legs. No pain involved, but my legs spasm violently, kicking the ground and upwards to the desk for several seconds. I've never been an alarmist and have suffered severe migraine in the past, but this is different.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.

Your symptoms require detailed evaluation to come to a conclusion so that correct treatment can be started.

There is nothing alarming, however, certain investigations such as MRI scan of the brain is required.

The most likely diagnosis to be excluded would be brain ischemia (lack of blood flow to brain).

In addition, blood tests for vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels should also be tested.

I hope it helps.

Please get back if you require any additional information.

Best wishes,
