Elevated PTH With High Levels Of Calcium. Scan Shows No Enlarged Parathyroid Nodules. Suggested Exporatory Parathyroid Surgery. Any Other Reason For High Calcium?
Hello,
I have very elevated PTH with high levels of calcium. My endocrinologist has done two Sestamibi scans and two thorough sound scans and we cannot see any of the parathyroid nodules being more or less enlarged. He's alarmed at my calcium levels, suggesting possible permanent kidney damage, and is advocating exploratory parathyroid surgery with a very experienced surgeon.
My question: Could there be ANY other cause (he's ruled out cancer with some test) of the hypercalcemia? Any what do you think of said surgery?
