Elbow Pain, Pain On Touching, While Applying Pressure. Treatment Options?
I practice Jiu-jitsu, and my left elbow hurt sometime when I touch it. I feel the pain on the left side of the center when I put pressure on it. The pain is not constant. At time I have to press hard to feel the pain and at other time just a slight touch will do. When I touch the elbow it seems that I can feel a sort of tube that move around inside the elbow
It sounds although you have a tendonitis of the elbow joint. If the pain is over the bony prominence on the inside of the elbow then this is called golfers elbow. If the pain is over the bony prominence on the outside of the elbow then this is termed tennis elbow. Rest, ice and anti-inflammatory medication can often help with the symptoms. Physiotherapists can employ modalities such as ultrasound therapy which can help, as well as stretching exercises. Braces can be purchased which put some pressure over the area and help with the pain. Local anaesthetic and steroid injections can be useful in resistant cases. Occasionally patients are offered surgery to release the inflamed tendon.
