Ear Infection, Kawasaki S Disease, Fever, Scarlet Fever, Diarrhea, Green Mucus From Nose. Tested Positive For Entro Virus. Input?

My son is 20 months old. In mid-March we had a scare of Kawasaki's Disease, which he was eventually NOT diagnosed with. He was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever. His fever broke, then returned as a low-grade fever since then until now. About 2 1/2 weeks ago he developed a double ear infection, put on abx for 10 days. All the while, still having a fever. He then on the 8th day of abx developed diarrhea, which I thought was from the abx, then the green runny nose started. Two days after completing the abx his fever increased to 102.5. I took him into the drs the next day. Tested positive for Rhino/Entrovirus. His ped ran several tests to see if he had some sort of an immune deficiency. His tests came back all normal, except for CRP, LDH, and ESR, which were all elevated. They were not crazy elevated, but elevated enough to wonder what was going on. He still has fever (low-grade). I am to take a fever diary for 1-2 weeks, and return for repeated blood work. I feel as a mother in my gut that something is wrong, but I can't figure it out. Six weeks of low-grade fevers just seem so strange to me. Any advice or input?

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern for the low grade fever. As your son has received antibiotics I suggest that you are doing the right thing by keeping a record of his fever for a few days and observing. Hopefully the fever should settle down.

CRP, LDH and ESR are raised because of the infection that your son has been having and shall return to normal over the next few weeks once his fever has returned to normal.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.
