Dry, Sand Paper Like Feeling Inside The Cheeks. Spreading With No Pain, Swelling, White Patches. What Could It Be?

Hi doctor, Could you, please, tell me what is the reason that inside my cheeks, especially the left side feeling like dry sand paper? I don t smoke , no STDs , don t drink. It seems like it is spreading slowly, but there is no pain, no swolling, no blisters or white patches . Just seems like the wetness of the tissue is gone. Please, help understand what can it be. thank you for possible help...

Hello,

Thanks for choosing hcm forum.

Dryness of cheeks may be due to-xerostomia,diabetes,salivary gland disorders,oral lesions like lichen planus,oral submucous fibrosis.

I would suggest you to get a thorough clinical evaluation done.

Salivary substitutes has to be administered.

Take plenty of fluids as well as nutritious diet including fruits and leafy vegetables to keep yourself nourished.

Maintain oral hygiene well.

Avoid anxiety and stress.

Take vitamin becosules as well as iron supplements.

1.Since when do you have this or when did you notice it first?

2.Are you taking any medications for any other problem than dental health,if so please mention?

3.Do you experience reduced salivary flow in your mouth too?

Meanwhile do warm saline rinses and drink plenty of fluid,keep your self hydrated.

Hello,

Welcome to the forum,

Dry, sand paper like feeling in the cheeks can be due to dry mouth i.e xerostomia, salivary gland disorders, oral pathological conditions like lichen planus, leukoplakia, OSMF.

I would suggest you to visit to the Dentist and get the thorough clinical examination done to determine the diagnosis and plan appropriate treatment.

At home take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash gargles 2-3 times daily.

Start with multivitamin suplements.

Take complete balanced diet and drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

Maintain a good oral hygiene.
