Dry, Red Patch Of Skin Near Ankle. What Could This Be?
I am a 26 year old female. 5 8 and 130 lbs. I have a small dry, red patch of skin (about the size of a nickel) on the top of my foot , right next to the ankle bone. It has been there for about 2 years that i have noticed. what could this be? it is sensitive if i pick at it but if i leave it alone it doesn t bother me, just dry and ugly to look at.
Hiya Betina4002. At the outset, if the problem has been there for 2 years, it is safe to label it 'chronic' . It is time you saw your friendly neighbourhood dermatologist (& we are a friendly lot by choice :) )! Of the cuff, it is probably a mixture of 'dry skin' & 'stress' related that subconciously causes you to scratch the area. Assuming you have a 'desk' related job most of the day, the ankle would be an easily accessible point. I dont know much about 'nickel's & dimes' being in India but presume with a good moisturizer & topical creams prescribed by your derma, it will never get to be 'dime-a-dozen' ;-) Take care & do visit your derma & am sure it will soon go away.
