Done USG, Low Lying Placenta. Is That Safe?

Hi Doctor,
I have done my USG on 12 Oct 2013. The USG showed the week as 23.6 with fetal weight of 619 gms. Also it mentioned lie changing fetus and also a low lying placenta 17mm form internal OS. Please let me know whether everything is normal. Whether this low lying placenta will hamper anything in my prgnancy?

Hello
Thanks for your query.
A low lying placenta is a risk factor at present.
it might cause spotting, bleeding, preterm labour etc.
however, more than 90 % of low lying placentas will migrate upwards in the normal position at term.
so do not worry.
continue serial monitoring of the placental position with regular ultrasound scans.
all the best.
