Done MRI. Showed Acrs And Fibrosis. Had A Laminectomy And Discectomy. What Does This Mean?
I had a laminectomy and discectomy of L2-L3 16 months ago and still in major pain and had MRI done with and without contrast done. Doctor said, I will be in pain the rest of my life and that's why I had the 100K operation. The MRI said, area of soft tissue signal noted within the left L2-L3 foramen, however, there appears to be prominent enhancement suggesting scar/fibrosis. Engulfment of the exiting left L2 nerve root is demonstrated. Please help!
Hello, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic. Every wound either from injury or surgery heals with scar and fibrosis. Scar and fibrosis are nothing but normal repair of your surgical wound. Soft tissue signal mentioned in MRI report is due to this scar and fibrous tissue. You have to consult with neurosurgeon for engulfment of L2 nerve root by this scar and fibrosis. It may pose some problems like nerve root compression syndrome. It may present with tingling, pain and numbness.
Take care
