Dog Bite On The Outer Lip With Pus Formation On The Inside. Is It Safe?

I was bitten by a dog last night on my lip and just applied pressure and let the bleeding stop and cleaned it. It is not as painful as it was yesterday, nor as swollen though it is still swollen and there is a white bump on the inside of my lip. He had ripped open my outer lip. I am wondering if it is an infection, filled with pus, and should I pop it or let it be? I haven t tried icing my lip yet but am going to right now.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Please go to the doctor immediately for wound care. This should be considered as an emergency as the bite is on the face. Please check if the dog which has bitten you has been vaccinated for rabies. If it is not, then you have to get rabies vaccination along with a tetanus shot. Clean the wound with soap and water. Symptoms of infection would be swelling, pain and ooze from the wound. If you are having these symptoms then you also need a prescription of appropriate antibiotics to prevent bacterial infection of bite wound.
Please start your antirabies vaccination as soon as possible.
Thanks.
