Does Vaginal Bloody Discharge Signify Menstruation?

I have a question. My period was suppose to start today but all I had was bloody discharge once when I wiped. I put a tampon in and left it in for two hours and nothing was on it. I am on birth control. I have very mild cramps nothing like I usually do with a period. The bloody discharge was dark red kinda brown. Not sure if it means my period or something else

Hello,

Before menses spotting can be considered normal. So don't worry much about it. I didn't understand what do you mean by I am on birth control is that mean you are on the medication for birth control or you don't want a baby now. Spotting before menses common side effect of birth control pills. Though you are on some birth control pills just check your pregnancy test for being safe. If the pregnancy test is negative, then there is nothing to worry about. Menses will come.
