Does Using Cortizone 10 For Itching Around Scrotum Cause Redness?

I have recently used an anti-itching cream, Cortizone 10, and it seems that it stopped the itching but after a few hours the area the cream was applied turned red and it started to itch more. Unfortunately, the area is on by scrotum and penis. The itching was so bad that I tried the cortizone. Why does the area ooz out transparent liquid that looks like water is being secreeted from the reddish areas on my genitals?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM.
Topical steroidal cream may lead to side effects like atrophy of skin if used in high dose or for long time. Skin of scrotum & penis is very delicate and can be damaged if steroid cream are used over it.
In your case, it looks like you have developed the side effects of local steroid application.
It is advisable to stop using it & consult a dermatologist.
Hope this will be helpful.
Take care.
