Does Undergoing BPH Surgery Cause Infertility?

my husband (33 years old) has been admitted to hospital for BPH surgery following a urinary flow test this morning. Is this normal for his age and also what effect will this have on fertility? will he have a catheter for a long period of time after surgery?

Respected user , Hi

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly .

* Following prostate surgery ,

- There will be retrograde ejaculation so there is highly unlikely possibility
of conceiving because semen does not come outside .
Must discuss thoroughly with the doctor for the same .

- Catheter is kept usually for 3 - 5 days post operative period depending
upon the preferance of the urologist .

Hope this clears your query .
Welcome for further assistance .

Regards .
