Does Ulcerative Colitis Cause Pain In Back And Groin?

I have UC. Can that cause pain in my back and pain in my groin area? I am a woman and the pain in my groin area switches from the right side to the left. When it is on the left side I also hurt in the lower part of my left side. The pain in my back is actually in my right hip area. I also am taking Actemra infusions for RA.

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Ulcerative colitis (UC) can have rheumatologic manifestations in the form of Sacroiliitis ,often symmetric and hence cause pain in groin areas on both sides.
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) occurs in about 10% of IBD patients including UC. It most often affects the spine and pelvis, producing symptoms of diffuse low-back pain, buttock pain etc.
