Hi,

Typhoid infection does not give lasting immunity, and hence relapse is possible. To avoid relapse, we have to ensure food / water hygiene and give typhoid vaccine.

Make it a habit to wash hands well with soap and water after toilet use and before food. Always use boiled/packaged/RO filtered water only for drinking. Avoid juices and street foods outside. Discuss with your pediatrician for vaccine.

Regarding diet, give a soft and easily digestible diet for initial 5-7 days. Once she is afebrile, no more lethargic and have a good appetite, a normal diet can be restored.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
