Does Thyroxine Intake Cause Weight Gain?

Hi, iam 33 years old, i have recently done thyroid test and the result are T3 and T4 normal and TSH is 7.7. i have been advised to take thyronom 25g. From past 1 1/2 months i have been consuming it. i have noticed weight gain of 1 kg after taking thyronom 25g. Is it normal to have a gain in weight after consuming the tablet?

Good day.
No, thyronorm dos not cause weight gain. If you are gaining weight, one thinh to consider is the progression of hypothyroidism itself. You may recheck Free T4 and TSH after 6 weeks of starting Thyronorm and then decide about dose change. If TSH is normal, then we need to think about alternate causes of weight gain. How is your diet and exercise?
