Does Thyroid Conditions Cause Shaky Feeling, Low Appetite And Constipation?

My mother is 88 years old, has been taking synthroid for 30 years. (Her thyroid was removed) Recently, her bloodwork showed her numbers were off so the doctor lowered her dose from .75 to .625. In the meantime, she has been complaining about feeling shaky, listless, low appetite, constitpated, and has a funny taste in her mouth. I notice a decline in cognitive ability; her short memory confuses some details and she does not make logical decisions. Could any of this been related to thyroid condition? The other area of decking health has been her kidneys but the doctor said her numbers were still okay for her age. Also, she tested negative for UTI. Any thoughts?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello,
I appreciate your concern regarding to your mother's health.
As her treating physician decided to slightly lower the synthroid dose is means that she was in hyperthyroidism that is manifested with high heart rate, diarrhea, shaky feelings, insomnia ect.
The symptoms in these cases are ameliorated within 2-4 weeks after correcting the dose.
So if the symptoms are due to inappropriate synthroid dose they get will get better soon, if they persist even when the thyroid hormones result within the normal ranges than another cause should be found.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
