Does The Present Diagnosis Of Arthritis Need A Second Opinion?

At C5-6 I have a broad based central protrusion overriding an annulus bulge with accompanying posterior osteophytic ridging, which indents the anterior aspect of the thecal sac and cervical cord resulting in central canal stenosis. I suffer from frequent headaches, right shoulder droops, as well as has pain, neck pain, right arm pain. I have seen a neurologist who says I have a lot of arthritis. Do you think a second opinion from a neurosurgeon is necessary?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

I will advise you to EMG-NCV for better diagnosis.
Yes you can consult neurosurgeon for permanent cure.

Neurotropic medication like pregabalin and methylcobalamine will help to regain weakness.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.
If not relieved then you can take local injection shot under image guidance.

If no improvement in hand functions then you will have to go for surgical decompression.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. If you are satisfied with answer do not hesitate to rate this answer at end of discussion.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
