Does The Onset Of My Menstruation Makes Me Sad And Depressed?

Is it my period making me feel so dead inside and wanting to cry all the time?

Yesterday I cried 3 times for no apparent reason. Now today I just feel sad. Could my menstrual cycle be the problem? Or is it something more? I know I am not pregnant because I am still a virgin. BTW: I am about to turn 27 in 2011 could that also be why I feel so sad and weary?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
yes it can be what you are thinking, there is an entity known as premenstrual syndrome, in which the patient feel depressed around her menstrual dates. Fluoxetine is to be taken around those days on which depression is expected, most of the time its 4-5 days prior to bleeding. Consult a psychiatrist and he will take care of your problem, so dont worry.
