Does The Lump On The Penis Need Medical Attention?

Late last night I discovered what I m sure was a tick attached to my penis. I think it must have been there for a while perhaps even a week. I haven t been outside much since last weekend. I detached much of it with tweezers that I have for that purpose. My kids often have ticks that I must remove. This one however seemed dead already and was mostly dried out. I still feel a little bump under the skin that I can t remove with tweezers. Should I get it looked at further?

Hello,

You are having a swelling / bump in your penis as a tick got attached to it. You removed it with tweezers. Its now uncomfortable. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP and get the ticks removed if any left. The head or legs of the tick if left in your flesh and continue to infect you. Wash hands and clean the bite area with warm water and gentle soap.

After cleansing the affected area, you can apply ointment Soframycin or Neosporin ointment / Lacto calamine lotion for relief. Tick bites can cause infection so avoid any sexual activity, let it heal. Tick bites can carry Lyme disease and other scary diseases. If you develop flu-like symptoms like fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, and muscle aches, or a rash within one month after the bite, get clinically assessed and treated in ER.

In case the bite area develops a lesion within 30 days, it may be indicative of Lyme disease. Get treated. The ticks tend to prefer the warm, damp environs of the groin and underarms so take bath regularly and keep the private area cool and dry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
