Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I currently take sotalol for ventricular tachycardia and I was given this medication after I had a heart attack this year. Last night I was feeling chest tightness which is not uncommon for me but it was a little stronger so I took my heart rate on my heart rate app on my phone and during the reading there was a straight line. Does this mean that my heart stopped ? I find that the chest pressure is stronger during my menstryal cycle. I am also taking hrt for peri menopause. I am 44 years old.
Suggestive of its side effects. Based on the history you seem to be suffering from bronchospasm (chest tightness) and bradycardia (slow heart beats) apparently caused by sotalol. I advise you to consult your doctor for an alternate effective but a safer medication to treat ventricular tachycardia.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
