Does Taking Aricept Cause Vertigo Symptoms?

Does Aricept cause vertigo symptoms, room spinning? My husband just started it 2 days ago for mile cognitive impairment. He went outdoors to do some sweeping and moving patio furniture in semi sunny area. He became dizzy and had to sit down. Everytime he gets up he feels it. He is on other medications as well, none of which are listed as problematic. He is on amlodipine, toprol XL, lipitor, Ranexa, warfarin, low dose aspirin, 40 mg. pantaprozole , cochicine, and 5 mg. prednisone. He took a cialis earlier. Could that have any effect?

Since vertigo started only after he started taking Aricept, it could be a side effect of the drug.Aricept is a drug that may be used to treat mild to moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease.Among the side effects of Aricept, vertigo/dizziness have been described.However, given the long term benefit of this drug, discontinuing treatment without the consent of his Doctor should not be considered.I will advise he continues with drugs as prescribed and try the following:
- Be aware of the possibility of losing balance
-Avoid moving suddenly and walk with a cane for stability
-Sit or lie down immediately when you feel dizzy
-Avoid using caffeine, alcohol, salt and tobacco
-Drink enough fluids, eat a healthy diet, get enough sleep and avoid stress.
Then book an appointment with his Doctor for evaluation.
