Does Switching From Betaseron To Copaxone Trigger Fungal Infections?

yes, I have MS. When I was on Betaseron for my MS after 4 years I developed Oral Thrush.. after a year my genocologist said it was the Betasseron so then switched to Copaxon in the last couple years I am getting fungus under my finger nails, I have been put on Terbinafine. The fungus clears up. then after 2 months the fungus starts again. I see that fungal dermatitis is a infrequent side effect. What do you think?

Yes fungal dermatitis with Copaxone(glatiramer) is an infrequent side effect. And so is oral thrush with betanseron(interferon 1b). The information regarding whether any other immunosupressive medications like steroids or others are prescribed to you is not mentioned. Immunosupressive drugs usually cause these type of fungal infections.
Finger nail infections is a difficult to treat infection. You need to be on medications for long time. The recurrence rate is also high. I would recommend you to take terbinafine for the prescribed duration and maintain hygiene at high standards to prevent recurrence.
Hope the above information helps you. Thank you for writing into healthcare magic. Have a wonderful day.
