Does Stopping Thyroid Medication Cause Any Withdrawal Side Effects?

Hello Doctor,earlier i had hyper thyroid and i had medicines but with consultation i stopped taking my medicine and it switched to hypo thyroid and now from last one year i am taking 50 mcg but before that in hypo thyroid i was taking 25 mcg so if i stop without consultation will it again switch to hyper thyroid. Request your advice Thanks

Hello,

You should reduce the dose or stop the drug only after consultation of your doctor. Though it's not expected that you should see severe withdrawal symptoms after stopping the drug you should not stop the drug by own.
