Does Smoking Marijuana While Having Epididymitis Cause Lump In Testicle?

Hi Doctor,

My brother recently suffered from epididymitis and he occasionally smokes marijuana for recreational purposes. Yesterday he smoked and on his left testicle there was a lump and pain. The next day the lump was gone and the pain disappeared. Is there a problem for him to smoke marijuana or should he stay off it for a while until he's healed.

hello user, thanks for contacting HCM for ur query. i understand your concern - to best of my knowledge smoking marijuana can not be directly linked to be causing a lump in the testicle. and you have mentioned that he is already suffering from epididymitis - so the likelihood of any local lesion is further raised - could be a hernia or varicocele also , so evaluation from a general surgeon is definitely required. nevertheless it would be better to stop smoking marijuana , as apart from its general health side effects - the smoke contains chemicals which can interfere with the levels of medicines (if prescribed for epididymitis or going to be prescribed before/after the surgical interventional if any for lump and also it decreases the immunity of the body so healing power of body gets reduced. hope i answered your query - any follow up queries are welcome - if satisfied please rate the answer
