Does Smoking Cause Low BP, Fatigue And Recurring Headaches?

Hello, my girlfriend is having some issues. She is a heavy smoker. She has fatigue and dizziness. She often feels weak. She often takes her blood pressure and she has unusually low blood pressure. The worst thing is that she constantly has headaches. She is also vegan. I personally dont think she eats enough, and when she does it is usually not tje healthiest foods, frozen pizzas, taco bell, high sodium stuff. I m worried aboit her. She also doesnt drink a lot (fluids) i am helping her to quit smoking soon, but is smoking the main cause of these issues? She also has asthma.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
It is bad to note that your girlfriend has asthma and she is a heavy smoker.
The reason why she is feeling fatigue and dizziness is due to poor oxygenation in the lungs and lack of proper supply of oxygen to vital organs such as brain.
She is not having low blood pressure and headache because of smoking, but may be due to lack of proper intake of fluids. In the long run, smoking would cause increase in blood pressure and carries a risk of coronory artery disease as well as lung cancer.
It would be better if she quits smoking at the earliest and give an opportunity to improve her health status. You may have to take her to de-addiction centre and counsel her in this regard.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
