Does Short And Heavy Periods While On Cerazette Pills Mean Miscarriage?

I am on the cerazette pill and I never miss or had a period in several years but got pregnancy symptoms about six weeks ago and started bleeding three days ago. It was bright red blood then darker, then stringy Grey clots, cramps and severe back pain but my test was negative when I got to hospital a day after bleeding started. Could this have been a miscarriage or will I never know if I was pregnant at first?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Cirrazette is a contraceptive containing Progesteron like preparation. It is characterized by change in menstrual pattern so short & heavy periods may be a feature of the contraceptive.
Nausea, vomiting, soreness of breast are also side effects of the drug.
Still- Missing a pill or even irregular timing of pill consumption may lead to ovulation- & conception is possible in such cases. If you have any doubt, it's better to exclude abortion by physical checking done by a gynecologist/ USG pelvis to exclude abortion & get treatment to get it completed.
Thanks.
