Does Reduced Lung Function With COPD Indicate Cancer?

My mother n law had a pulmonary test performed today and the results showed she only had 52% lung function on intake ad 48% function on output. She has COPD and they are running test to determine if she has lung cancer, due to the fact that there was something more on her recent test results. What to we need to expect over the next couple of days once further testing is done?

well first of all was she a chronic smoker. if yes then there is likely high chance of lung cancer. but again its not a hard and fast rule. now since you said if there was more on recent test? was there a lesion present on her chest x ray which her physicians were worried about.if a lesion or an abnormal patch seen on x ray there is a chance that it could be a tumor but whether harmful or not, only further investigations will tell.we need to see mri scans to confirm the diagnosis. hope i have answered your question and best of luck for your mother in law.
