Does Positive Result In Widal Test Indicate Typhoid Fever?
Respected sir ,on 10-3-2015 my body tem 103 degree as consulted my family doctor in his lab blood &urine was tested widel positive resulted medicines used for 7days and again on 13-3-2015 my blood &urine was tested their no widel positive & tem wos normal my self medicine hence i req your goodself how to control your s faithfull shivaprasad advocate

Positive Widal test does not always indicate typhoid fever. False positive Widal test are seen in malaria, other viral infections etc . But if your titres were 1:160 and above, this could indicate typhoid. That said, the confirmatory test for typhoid is always blood culture.

A positive Widal never always mean you have typhoid fever. The titer matters. A four fold rise in titer is more specific.
There are few conditions which can cause false positive Widal tests as well like if you were previously immunized, if you had typhoid in the past and with few other bacterial infections.
