Does Performing Splits Cause Pain In The Back Of Thighs And Bruises On The Back Of Legs?

I did the splits about a week or two ago and I felt like a pop. It hurt to stretch and I could not stretch like I used to. It hurts the back of my thigh. I recently discovered two bruises on the back of my leg, behind the knee and one above that area.

Sudden stretching and exercise without warm up exercises and apt preparation can cause slight trauma to tissues. This may cause small hematomas to form which you see as bruises. To prevent this you have to have a slow and steady gradation of exercise and stretching. Increase the intensity and duration of exercise slowly day by day and over a period of weeks you can do more intense exercise. For now just take a rest until the bruises and the pain disappears. Then start slow again. Good day and take care.
