OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

Polycystic ovarian disease is a condition that presents with irregular periods, anovulation, etc. due to reproductive hormonal imbalance and insulin resistance. Generally the treatment should be given to counteract these effects. Duphaston containing Dydrogesterone helps in regularizing the menstrual cycles.

As insulin resistance is one of the features of PCOS, Metformin can be used, which will help in increasing the insulin sensitivity of the tissues. So, you can use both the tablets. But better to use any tablets after consulting with your doctor only because she can know the exact condition of your problem. So, please consult your doctor and proceed accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

If your ObGyn has decided to discontinue Metformin, then it is likely that the PCOD is under control. You wouldn't need metformin. Continue Duphaston as prescribed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
