Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 64 year old married man. I like to masturbate once or twice a month. Is this normal or is this something that I should not do. I am on blood pressure medicine and their are times when I am feeling the urge to Masturbate particullary when I home alone.
Masturbation is a normal activity. It does not affect your health any more than regular sexual activity affects it. You should be okay masturbating a couple times a month if you are able to have regular sexual intercourse without problems. However, if your doctor has told you to avoid sexual intercourse for some health reason, I would consider masturbation the same as intercourse and avoid it. Otherwise no problem. Hope this helps.
