I am a femal, age 30, I have always had a perfect health report. I got a call from my dr. office today saying that my labs came back. My dr. said that I had a mildly abornal thyroid and would like me to come back in. I am very concerend. I take Lutera as birth control and have read that this may cause an inaccurate tyroid lab. Is this true? Should I be concerend or could this lab be the result of my birth control?
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Tab lutera is birth control pill. It does not affect the thyroid results much. But if you have mild abnormal thyroid lab results then you should go for repeat testing of Free T3 Free T4 and TSH after a month. It will give you exact idea whether you need a drug treatment or not. Then plan accordingly. Continue lutera according to advise.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
