Does Lumber Disc Herniation Cause Slow Transit Constipation?

I was diagnosed with slow transit. I have had trouble and not able to have bowel movement for a year and half, it all started when I found out I had disc in back sitting on nerve causing back pain. Couldn t that be the reason I m having trouble and have the slow transit?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Constipation may be due to neurological damage but here in your case it may not be that one, because there seems no associated history given here. So, your constipation may be due to less amount of water intake and less or no fiber diet. So the first thing is, try to eat more fiber containing diet and increase your water intake, keep the regular habit of going for bowel movement even in absence of need to this and no matter if you do not pass the stool, still be there sit there for while without exerting the force. You can also try Isabgol husk.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Akhtar Husain
