My boyfriend is taking 150mg of Zoloft and has been on it for almost a year. He recently lowered his cafine he was on basiclly the equivalent of more then 5-6 cups of coffee a day and also takes focolin and was recommended to to lower his caffeine by his psychiatrist to 1-2 cups of coffee or tea per day. I have and so has he noticed a huge increase in his depression symptoms I am wondering if it is all caffeine withdralls or if perhaps the caffeine was covering up the depression?? And perhaps the Zoloft is no longer working?

Hello,

Usually when on Zoloft, Patients are advised to avoid caffeine while taking Zoloft. Possibility of caffeine withdrawal cannot be ruled out. Therefore, I suggest consulting your psychiatrist for physical examination, diagnosis and treatment.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
