Does Kidney Stone Removal Cause Low Back Pain And Abdominal Pain?

I had a kidney stone removed from my. Left side about a month ago. Two days later I had 2 stones on the right side and they were removed. Since then I ve had a dull ache on my lower left side of my back. I ve had X-rays and an abdominal ultrasound done. The urologist said it was probably muscular or skeletal pain. Now for the past 4 days. The pain has moved to my lower left abdomen which is sensitive to pressure. I am also running a low grade fever. My normal is 97.9 and it has been running anywhere from 98.3. To 101. Just now 100.2. I am a Cml patient and take sprycel daily anmong other meds

Hi,

Noted your history of taking Sprycel for CML and removal of kidney stones one side after another and then you developed dull ache on left side of back, X-rays and abdominal ultrasound done, Urologist thinks about muscular or skeletal cause. Now there is pain to the left lower abdomen, low grade fever.
This is a peculiar case wherein you need a detailed history, clinical evaluation and examination by a General Physician, Urologist, Oncologist to find the probable cause of your symptoms and thus get investigated to support the diagnosis and get treated well.
Continue treatment for CML as before.
If the pain is of muscular origin then this can be detected by clinical examination, pain increases by twisting movements, bending and so on.
If something else is suspected then it is better to get the tests of blood and urine done as you have fever and try to get the findings, get treated by antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medications as needed and advised.
CT scan of the whole abdomen can help find if there is any other cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
