Does it take 7-10 days to confirm a pregnancy ?

hi i did my pregnancy test it dint show positive,bt doctor gave me one tablet for 5 days,and she told with in 7 or 10 days i will get a period or i wont,,,is it pregnant will take this much time to confirmed

you can repeat the test after 1 to 2 weeks. if it comes negative then there is less chance of pragnancy . there are other causes of delayed period also. so wait for another week

If the pregnancy test is negative then what your doctor has given are tablets for withdrawal bleeding which are to be taken for 5 days and after the effect of the tablets wear off then you will get periods.As far as the time to confirm pregnancy it can be confirmed in 2-3 days after you miss the date only in few cases it can be confirmed as late as 1 week so if you still are not sure then you can repeat 1 week after your expected date and preferable with morning sample of urine.What i would suggest is if the pregnancy test is negative you can start on with the tablets as advised by your doctor.
