Does Intermittent Thick Vaginal Discharge Indicate Yeast Infection?
I've had thickish vaginal discharge on and off for a few months now. I've used a yeast infection kit a few months ago, but it comes and goes every few weeks. Yesterday I got external itching and pinkish discharge. Is it possible to have a yeast infection? If so, are there yeast infections that go dormant for a while and then come back?

Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Thick cheesy white discharge can be yeast infection. In such case a swab should be done to rule out this. If clotrimazole cream application is not helpful then if you were my patient i would recommend oral fluconazole weekly for 1 month. Do you have any other symptoms like fishy smell which is characteristic for bacterial vaginosis which can coexist with yeast infection. Swab test will rule out that also. In case it is positive then i advise combination of antibiotics like metronidazole or clindamycin with clotrimazole as vaginal suppository. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
