Does Intake Of Birth Control Pill Cause Irregular Periods?
HI I had I pill last month on 28th of April and got my periods immediately the next day. Was awaiting for normal cycle in may but today is the 14th of June haven t got them yet and in between haven t had intercurrent without safety. Should I do a test? And if the test is negative what should be my next step
Pregnancy is the most common cause of delayed periods but this would have been ruled out by a pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests detect the HCG hormone which is released in pregnancy , this can be detected by day 11 to 14.
If a test is done around this time, and it is negative then it is truly negative.
Other causes of delayed period are: (A) abnormal levels of thyroid hormone (B)emotional stress or illness (C)high levels of the prolactin hormone (C)physical illness (D)side effect of medication (E)polycystic ovarian syndrome (f)excess physical activity or inadequate diet
If the pregnancy test is truly negative then your doctor can consider ruling out one of these other causes which would require blood tests and an ultrasound.
I hope this helps
